Are email agreements legally binding?

I have been looking for a vacation rental online and finally found a property that I was interested in. This property was to be used to house my in-laws during my upcoming wedding. The property is located in California, and I live in Colorado. After a number of emails were exchanged between myself and the property owner, we agreed to the rental terms by email. In one email, I re-iterated the rental terms (ie. dates agreed upon, total cost, deposit amount, the names on the rental agreement, etc). The property owner responded by confirming the terms.

The owner then said he would email me documents to sign and send to him along with a certified check. When I received the documents, I printed them out, signed it and sent them to him along with the check. It turns out, he had provided an incorrect address (he had forgotten a digit in his address), so he claimed he never received it and would retract on his offer. After calling to complain, it turns out that his previous tenant had asked to extend their rental lease for additional months, which would overlap my stay.

I just want to know if our email agreement is legally binding.

I want a vacation this Christmas Break, where should I go?

My wife wants a winter getaway over Christmas:

Here are the parameters:

1. It has to be someplace cold. Preferably with a fair amount of snow. We live in warm places all the time, so we like to see snow on our vacations.

2. It has to be cheap. We love going to Colorado for example, but Christmas break is a peak season for that area, we are looking to go someplace off peak to save money. We are looking to spend less than 00 total. We are willing to drive up to 24 hours, we are in North Carolina right now, so anything on the west coast is out for driving at least. We are also willing to fly if need be, but we would have to take car rental into consideration.

3. The more remote the better. We love Canada, so that is not a problem to drive to. Halifax and Toronto are both within 24 hours drive so anything in between is fine.

4. We are looking for about a ten day to two week period.

So make sure your answer fits all the parameters. We appreciate it!

Where should we go on vacation?

My parents want to take us on a vacation – there are 4 of us (dad – 55, mom – 54, me (female) – 25, my brother – 21. We live in the Dallas, TX area.
We aren’t looking for "the vacation of a lifetime" or anything, mainly just to relax, have fun, and be together.
Comparable vacations (in terms of cost and distance) we’ve taken in the past are – a week at an all inclusive resort in Cancun, a week in Estes Park Colorado (Rocky Mountain national park), a week in a rental house in the Texas Hill country, a week in a beachfront hotel in South Padre, that kind of thing.

The problem is this – some of us DON’t like beaches where the water isn’t clear (murky water…uugghhh), Colorado is too far to drive, and we want something different than the Hill country. We want somewhere there are things to do, yet you can just hang out too.

Oh and we want to go in August.

One more thing, we really aren’t interested in a cruise. We get along, but not well enough to share a cabin. THANKS!!

What is it like to live there, places to live, weather, jobs, schools, etc. I have been looking online for apartment complexes or rentals and have been having a hard time finding anything, mostly just vacation rentals. Any information that you can help us out with would be great.

Can travel agents help out with cabin rentals?

I’m looking into using a travel agent to help out with a group vacation to Colorado or some other place to go snowboarding. We planned on staying in the same place so we are looking for a place that can squeeze at least 8 people. We don’t have an official head count yet, but we are used to cramming into space.. anyways… We planned on using a cabin or possibly a lodge, whichever is cheapest so that it can be closest to the slopes.. do travel agents look at cabins? We are looking for the best available rate… Around 0/person not including car rental.. for about 5 days. What do you suggest??

Colorado Summer Vacation?

I’m interested in spending a week or two up in Colorado next summer. I’d like the following in a rental cabin:

A. a killer view
B. Close to mountain hiking
C. Close to enough restaurants that I won’t have to turn on the stove
D. Kinda’ quiet
E. Have aircard coverage (bonus for Verizon aircard, but I can get my hands on an AT&T card if I need to.)
F. Under 00 for two weeks. (If it’s got a stone fireplace or a hot tub or was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright or something, I might go above that.)

Bonus points for being within an hour or two of Mesa Verde, and/or with several ghost towns in the area, but these are not absolutely required.

I’ll bring my own books and laptop and want to go hiking (hopefully with the BF) and just not doing anything of any note or merit, except for maybe some sight seeing.

Anyone have any suggestions?
