Breckenridge Rentals

There are many rental homes within 10 minutes of the Breckenridge ski lifts as well as hiking and fishing in the summer time.

While many look at staying in town or what they call slopeside, visitors should look farther out also.  A key question to ask about ski in, ski out accommodations is how far does one actually have to walk or carry skis to where you can get on a ski run.  For example, if you were staying at Stoneybrooke, you can park either at the gondola parking (B on map) with our parking pass for free, or for $15.00 ($10.00 if 4 or more in car) at the parking lot at Beaver Run Resort.

Here is where we park, it is taken in summer but the rectangle is the parking area which is 10 to 100 feet from the ski run depending where you park.  Ski parking

You can’t get much closer than that to the ski run.  Quick ski down to the Quicksilver lift and then up the mountain you go.  Much faster than the Gondola and closer than almost any ski in/ski out.  Even if you stay at Beaver Run Resort, you have to walk farther.

Breckenridge Vacation Rentals – First Ski Day

Posted by stoneybr | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 15-11-2009

The snow is falling outside on this November morning. Five inches so far. We are staying a vacation rental home just ten minutes outside Breckenridge, Colorado. We researched Breckenridge Vacation Rentals on the internet and chose one of the many homes that were available.

Staying in a home rather than a condo or one of the hotels is so much more fun. We have a big family and it is really nice having access to a real luxury home and not being cramped. There are enough bedrooms to go around and it has that real homey feel.

Watching the snow fall, while smelling the fresh coffee, is one of those experiences that stick with you forever. The kids got up all excited. They are spending the day at the Breckenridge Ski School which is one of the best in the country. I know by the time we pick them up, we won’t be able to keep up with them on the slopes.

We rented skis, poles, boots, and helmets at Christy Sports by the Main Street Hyatt yesterday. We were able to reserve them in advance online plus the owners of the rental house got us a special discount. I even got a performance package with the latest ski design!

After piling into the four wheel drive that we also reserved online, we parked in the Beaver Run lot with the parking pass from our rental home. Our parking space was literally 25 feet from the ski run! We chose to ski down to the Maggie lift and dropped the kids off at ski school.

We were able to get right in line, it is not holiday season yet, and go all the way to the top of the mountain. We skied down taking Briar Rose and Cashier all the way to the lift back to the top at Beaver Run Resort.

After a second run, and a hot chocolate stop, we caught the Peak 8 Superconnect to go to the top of the Peak 8 runs. Cruising a blue, we went all the way down to the Gondola stop to ride down to the parking lot in town for lunch. We took our skis and walked to the Blue River Bistro for a leisurely lunch. Their Blue River salad and the fish and chips are to die for (not to mention the Martini menu).

Fortified, we went back to the Gondola and rode up to catch the Colorado Super Chair to the top of the mountain. We skied over to Peak 9 for the afternoon runs.

After collecting everyone, we stored skis for the night and headed home. After a dip in the hot tub to relax those sore muscles, we started planning our trip for tomorrow. Breckenridge vacation rentals by owner is the only way to experience a Breckenridge ski trip.

Don’t rent a luxury home in Breckenridge Colorado unless you want to avoid being in a place where you have to go outside to change your mind. Experience a Breckenridge vacation rental at http://www.stoneybrooke.net.

Many people think that the best place to stay is “ski in, ski out” when looking for a Breckenridge vacation rental. Most rentals “on the mountain” may claim to be “right there” but really require a lot of exercise on your part to get on and off the ski runs.

With a good parking pass, like ours, you can literally park at the Beaver Run lot and be steps away from the ski run. If you are looking at Breckenridge vacation rentals, check out all of your options.

To find out more about location, location, location, here is more information.

Stoneybrooke is 11 minutes and just 5 miles, but more importantly 50 feet from your parking space to the slope!

Homes For Sale Breckenridge Colorado Fly Fishing Paradise

Posted by stoneybr | Posted in Uncategorized | Posted on 09-08-2009

Within 30 minutes of homes for sale in Breckenridge, Colorado, are the Blue, Colorado, Arkansas, South Platte, and Williams Fork Rivers. These rivers are a fly fisherman’s paradise. There is even a stream known as the Dream Stream. Located on what is also known as Spinney Mountain Ranch, this three mile long Colorado tailwater section of the South Platte River is nestled in the windswept high mountain plain of South Park. Flowing out of Spinney Mountain Reservoir, it contains prime big trout habitat, and eventually flows into Eleven Mile Reservoir. The water is so crystal clear, you can actually see the brook, brown and cutthroat trout staring upstream
The fairly consistent year round temperatures are prime fishing. The abundance of scuds, midges, mayflys, and caddisflys make up the majority of the trout’s diet. These trout will also feed on hoppers, trout fry, and eggs, –not to mention all the food washed out of Spinney Mountain Reservoir! The public can access the Dream Stream portion of The South Platte River is public and it has easy bank access. Almost all of the areas are strictly catch and release with Colorado’s conservation efforts. Imagine looking for homes for sale in Breckenridge Colorado, just so you could be within driving distance!

Want to go for real trophies? There are private water options to fish almost untouched rivers, creeks, streams and ponds on some of Colorado’s premier ranch lands. Most of this access requires a fishing guide. Breckenridge Outfitters in Breckenridge is one of the premier Orvis shops in the United States. They provide all fly fishing gear (with the exception of flies) is provided, including rods, reels, and waders.

They can take you to Elk Fork Ranch which is 6,500 acre ranch located on the confluence of the East fork River and Troublesome Creek. With access to 6 miles of the East Fork and 4 miles of the Troublesome, there are also four ponds that hold rainbow, cutthroat, brown and brook trout. The Jurassic Pond, as you might expect, is home to real monster trout.
